ATH-2026-Coaches-Amy Gosztyla

Exeter welcomes Gosztyla as head track & field coach, instructor of PE

The Exeter Athletics Department has announced Amy Gosztyla as the next head coach of the Big Red track and field program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Amy to the Exeter community," said Jason Baseden, Director of Physical Education and Athletics. "She brings an outstanding combination of coaching experience, competitive excellence, and a genuine commitment to student development. Amy has a proven ability to teach, motivate, and connect with students at a high level, and we are excited to see the impact she will have on our community."

Gosztyla arrives at Exeter following a distinguished coaching career that has included stops at Yale University, Harvard University, the University of New Hampshire, and Stony Brook University.

At Yale, Gosztyla served for eight years as the head coach of the women's cross country program, while also working as an assistant coach with the men's and women's track and field teams. During her tenure, Yale's women's cross country program climbed from the bottom of the Ivy League standings to earning a berth at the NCAA Championships. Her athletes captured Ivy League titles, qualified for NCAA competition, earned All-America honors, set school records, and excelled academically.

Before joining Yale, Gosztyla was an assistant coach at Harvard University, where she helped guide Crimson athletes to five Ivy League, individual and relay championships, while mentoring NCAA qualifiers, regional champions, and school record holders. Earlier in her career at Stony Brook University, she was twice part of the America East Conference Women's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year. During her time with the Seawolves, they developed into an NCAA qualifying team and produced three America East champions.

As a student-athlete, Gosztyla enjoyed a remarkable career at the University of New Hampshire. A four-time all-conference performer, she was named America East Student-Athlete of the Year and UNH Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She captured six conference championships across indoor and outdoor track and field, earned All-New England honors, and held seven school records during her career. Prior to her time in Durham, Gosztyla (née DeCamp) was a standout cross country, basketball, and track & field athlete at Londonderry High School and was inducted into the Lancer Hall of Fame in 2018.

"I am honored to join the Phillips Exeter Academy community," said Gosztyla. "Thank you to Director of Athletics Jason Baseden and the search committee for showcasing the true spirit of what it means to be an Exonian. The future of the program is bright thanks to the dedication of current and former athletes, as well as the outstanding leadership of outgoing coach Hilary Hall. I am excited to carry the baton into the next chapter of Exeter's history and look forward to sharing this journey with my family and the campus community."

Gosztyla succeeds longtime head coach Hilary Hall, whose remarkable career helped establish Exeter as one of the premier track and field programs in New England. She takes over a program coming off another outstanding season, including the boys' fourth consecutive New England Division I championship and a continued tradition of success across both the boys' and girls' programs.
