FOUR-PEAT! Boys track & field smash records, earn another N.E. title

Exeter boys track and field captured its fourth consecutive New England Division I Championship on Saturday, turning in a dominant performance to score 136 points—45 points clear of runner-up Loomis Chaffee. The title continues a remarkable run for Big Red and showcased the team's all-around depth throughout the afternoon on the Choate campus.

Leading the way was Jordan Hayden, who delivered one of the standout performances of the meet. Hayden set a new New England record in the 100-meter dash with a blazing time of 10.53 seconds, then returned to win the 200 meters in 21.68. He also anchored Exeter's victorious 4x100-meter relay alongside Elias Warner, Collin Moore, and Aaron Spence. The quartet crossed the line in 42.54 to claim another championship.

Exeter closed the meet in style with a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay. Collin Moore, Truman Yee, Alex Harwich, and Rhys Cunningham combined for a winning time of 3:24.01. Cunningham also earned runner-up honors in the 400 meters in 49.85, while Yee placed third in the 800 meters in 1:57.24.

Bo Howland-Vlahakis added another school record to his resume, finishing second in the 3,000m in 8:22.26 to break Exeter's previous program mark.

Harwich contributed heavily in the hurdles, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.01 and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.29. Dana Mussulman put forth a strong day, finishing fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.12), second in the pole vault (14-0), second in the javelin (165-10), and runner-up to teammate Carter Johnson in the javelin. Johnson earned the New England title with a throw of 178-2.

Caden Green continued his spectacular season and swept both shot put and discus. Green won the shot put with a throw of 54-11.50 and captured the discus title at 177-3. Brayden Murch added a fifth-place finish in the discus (133-11). Griffin Breault placed fourth in the triple jump (40-10.75), and Joshua Belcher took third in the high jump at 6-0.

The Exeter girls turned in a strong performance as well, finishing fifth overall against a very competitive field.

The girls 4x100 relay team of Rylie Choi, Emmanuella Foloruso, Charlie Kim, and Ayana Okuneye placed third in 49.30. Choi added a third-place finish in the 400 meters (57.84), while Okuneye took second in the 200 meters (25.50) and fifth in the 400 meters (59.34). Foloruso placed sixth in the 100 meters (12.67), fourth in the long jump (16-6.75), and helped score in the relay.

Lily Sabol placed third in the 300-meter hurdles (50.12) and ran the opening leg of the girls 4x400 relay, which placed second in 4:04.89. Joining Sabol were Okuneye, Linda Kozma-Vig, and Choi. Ava Bullock finished fourth in the 3,000 meters in 10:37.99.

The meet provided a memorable and fitting conclusion in Coach Hilary Hall's final NEPSTA meet before retiring from the Academy after more than four decades of dedicated service, expertise, and passion. Surrounded by athletes who embodied the depth, determination, and competitive spirit she has instilled over the years, her teams delivered yet another performance worthy of the extraordinary legacy she will leave behind.

Big Red will wrap up their season next Saturday when they travel to Andover for their annual battle with the Blue.
