Runners shine at N.H. Distance Festival

Exeter's distance squad delivered a standout performance at the New Hampshire Distance Festival on Friday, turning in a series of impressive efforts against a deep and competitive field.

Ava Bullock led the way with an exceptional double, opening her day with a 5th-place finish in the mile (5:14.08) before returning to dominate the 5,000 meters. Bullock pulled away for a decisive victory in the 5k, clocking a time that ranks 11th in the country this season and securing an automatic national qualifier.

On the boys side, Bo Howland-Vlahakis continued his remarkable season with a commanding win in the 5,000 meters. His time of 14:45.79 stands as the sixth-fastest mark in the U.S. this season and earns him a provisional national qualifier. Howland-Vlahakis controlled the race from the front, finishing an impressive 36 seconds ahead of the runner-up in a 41-athlete field.

In the mile, Marcus Kiehl and Truman Yee both delivered strong efforts, placing 3rd (4:25.72) and 5th (4:27.69), respectively, showcasing the depth of Exeter's middle-distance group. Freshman Norah Pratt also impressed, finishing 9th in the girls mile with a time of 5:20.12.

The girls 5,000 meters saw a trio of Big Red runners place in the top ten, led by Alice Rourke's 6th-place finish in 18:42.52. Annika Nystedt (8th, 20:04.61) and Sophia Butler (10th, 20:16.45) added to the team's strong presence in the event.
