Exeter track and field opened the season in emphatic fashion, delivering an all-around performance on the Ralph Lovshin Track.
The headline moment of the day came in the discus circle, where
Caden Green turned in a historic performance. Green unleashed a monster throw of 199-07 to shatter the previous school record of 190-01 set by Jeremiah Swett '21, firmly establishing a new standard in the Exeter record book. Green's mark is ranked seventh in the country this season.
Green's throw led a clean sweep for Big Red, as
Brayden Murch (126-08) and Zachary Kenison (120-05) secured second and third place, respectively.
Exeter continued its dominance in the throwing events with another sweep in the shot put.
Shaib Abubakar led the way with a winning mark of 41-11, followed closely by Kenison (41-08) and Murch (41-04).
Carter Johnson added to the field event success with a first-place finish in the javelin (162-05), while
Dana Mussulman soared to victory in the pole vault (13-09) and
Griffin Breault cleared 5-10 to win the high jump.
On the track,
Truman Yee delivered a standout day of his own, winning the 1500m in 4:09.54 before returning to take the 800m in 2:00.43.
Bo Howland-Vlahakis continued his strong form with a first-place finish in the 3000m (8:47.25), while
Owen Welch placed second (9:05.38).
In the hurdles,
Alex Harwich was excellent, capturing first in both the 100m hurdles (15.55) and 300m hurdles (40.32), with
Collin Moore adding a second-place finish in the 300m at 43.29. The 400m saw
CJ Deal (54.43) edge teammate
Grant Blitz (54.82) as the pair went one-two.
Exeter swept the top five spots in the 100m, led by
Jordan Hayden (11.00), followed by
Jackson Sparks (11.44),
Aaron Spence (11.49),
Fogo Filani (11.56), and
Collin Moore (11.82). A similar story unfolded in the 200m, where Hayden (21.78) led another top-five sweep, with Tyrone Neal (22.25), Spence (23.00),
Elias Warner (23.43), and Sparks (23.48) rounding out the group.
The boys 4x400 relay team of Moore, Harwich, Deal, and
Nnachedom Eneh capped the meet with a first-place finish in 3:37.72.
On the girls side, Exeter matched the momentum with a series of strong performances across the board.
Norah Pratt (5:00.27) and
Julia Malysa (5:03.40) went one-two in the 1500m, while
Ava Bullock (10:44.61) and
Annika Nystedt (11:32.66) did the same in the 3000m.
Anna Taormina had an outstanding day in the hurdles, winning both the 100m hurdles (15.82) and 300m hurdles (49.96).
Ayana Okuneye was another standout, capturing first in the 400m and returning to win the 200m in 26.46.
Charlie Kim (27.96),
Summer Mansfield (28.10), and
Lily Sabol (28.17) followed in second, third, and fourth, respectively in the 200m.
In the 100m,
Jewel Seymour placed second (13.55), while Malysa added a second-place finish in the 800m (2:31.69). The 4x400 relay team of
Rylie Choi, Sabol,
Kelly Ugbala, and Okuneye turned in a strong effort to place second in 4:13.57.
In the field events, Emmanuela Folorunso led the way with a first-place jump of 17-04 in the long jump.
Thea Vaughan placed third in the pole vault (7-06), and
Hannah Gibbs added a third-place finish in the high jump (4-06).
