Record-breaking performances highlight Exeter/Andover dual

Exeter indoor track and field welcomed Andover to the Thompson Field House for the annual Red vs. Blue dual on Wednesday afternoon. The meet, which always brings a heavy dose of excitement, also featured a slew of new records as the Big Red boys topped the Blue 76-33 while the Andover girls edged out a win over the hosts by a score of 56-52.

Gianna Phipps put forth quite a performance as she inked a handful of new records on the day. Phipps set a new school record in the 55m (7.32), set a new school record and a new meet record in the 300m (40.80), and teamed up with Ayana Okuneye, Jannah Maguire, and Sam Benochi to set a new school record and new meet record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:59.16. The 4x400 relay meet record was lowered by 15 seconds.

Maguire also set a new school record and registered a top-25 mark in the nation in the 600m when she crossed at 1:34.61.

On the boys side, Jaylen Bennett continued his record-breaking crusade setting new school records and new meet records in both the 55m and 300m. Bennett sprinted to a time of 6.48 in the 55m while crossing at 34.90 in the 300m. Bennett then teamed up with Rhys Cunningham, Zylen Campbell, and Lucian Gleiser to break the school and meet record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:25.47.

Alex Harwich and Marcus Kiehl shook up the record books, as well, with a pair of prep records. Harwich reset his own prep record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.46; Alex Sahinoglu (8.09), Aiden Vieara-McCarthy (8.36), and Harwich combined to sweep the 55m hurdles event.

Kiehl reset his own prep record in the 1,000m for the second time in as many weeks as he came in at 2:39.60 to claim first place in the event.
