The Exeter record books received another shakeup this past Saturday as
Gianna Phipps and
Jaylen Bennett etched their names into program annals once again.
Phipps broke the Big Red record in the 55m dash with a time of 7.36, a record previously held by Marymegan Wright '21. This marks the third school record Phipps has set in the past two weeks, also setting marks in the 300m (40.85) and the 60m (7.88).
Jaylen Bennett broke the school record in the 300m for the second time in as many weeks when he ran to a time of 33.91 at the PUMA New York International Showcase at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
Big Red had a slew of strong performances back at the Thompson Field House in Saturday's NHIAA meet.
Alex Sahinoglu snagged a first-place finish in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.82. The boys 4x400m relay team of
Lucian Gleiser,
Charles Clavel,
Zylen Campbell, and
Dana Mussulman ran to a first-place finish with a time of 3:34.32 while the boys 4x800m team of
Nathi Lomax,
Pearce Covert,
Owen Cosgrove, and
Dash Seals crossed at 8:46.61.
In addition to her record-setting run in the 55m prelims, Phipps also put together a first-place finish in the 600m with a time of 1:41.04.
Jannah Maguire placed second overall in the 300m with a time of 41.90 while also placing fifth in the 55m, crossing at 7.71.
Steph Handte earned second overall in the high jump, leaping to a height of 5-01.00.
Big Red will return to the Thompson Field House on Wednesday, January 29 at 3:30p.
