The Exeter Athletics Department has announced
Suzan Rowe as the head coach of the Big Red girls volleyball program. A member of the Exeter volleyball coaching staff for the past nine years, Rowe served as interim head coach during the 2025 season and will now guide the program into its next chapter.
"We are thrilled to have Sue continue the rich tradition of girls volleyball here at Exeter," said
Jason Baseden, Director of Physical Education and Athletics. "She is an outstanding member of our community and a proven educator and coach who understands how to build a program that develops students while competing at the highest level. Her commitment to excellence, relationships, and the educational experience makes her the ideal person to lead our program."
Rowe is an accomplished coach and educator with a longstanding commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Her coaching experience spans high school and collegiate levels, including stops at Plymouth State College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she helped cultivate competitive, team-first cultures built on accountability, leadership, and continuous improvement. In addition to her coaching career, Rowe has spent many years as a physical education teacher, working with students throughout New Hampshire.
"I am honored and excited to continue the longstanding tradition of excellence that girls volleyball has established at Exeter," Rowe said. "I look forward to building on the foundation that has made this program so successful while continuing to develop student-athletes who compete with passion, integrity, and respect. My goal is to create an environment that challenges our players to pursue their highest potential both academically and athletically."
During her nine seasons on the Exeter volleyball staff, Rowe has helped guide both the girls and boys programs through one of the most successful stretches in school history. The girls program reached the NEPSAC Class A semifinals three times and advanced to four championship matches, capturing the 2019 New England title. As an assistant with the boys program, she helped Big Red reach the New England championship match every season, winning titles in 2019 and 2024. After assuming the interim head coach of the boys volleyball program in 2026, Rowe will remain an assistant with the boys volleyball program under head coach
Sophia Scola.Â
"Our success has always been rooted in the development of our student-athletes," Rowe said. "By emphasizing skill development, strategic game planning, and a supportive yet challenging environment, we will continue striving for excellence while ensuring our players grow as teammates, leaders, and members of the Exeter community."
