Exeter girls varsity volleyball showed off some grit and composure on the road Saturday, earning a pair of thrilling five-set victories over Hotchkiss and Taft.

In their opening match against Hotchkiss, Big Red jumped out to an early lead by taking the first two sets 25-20, 25-20. Hotchkiss clawed back with wins in the third and fourth, forcing a decisive fifth set, but Exeter held firm and closed out the match with a tight 15-13 victory.

Later in the day against host Taft, Exeter again found themselves in a back-and-forth battle. Big Red took the first set 25-20, dropped the second 15-25, and then traded the next two frames with the Rhinos to set up another winner-take-all fifth. This time, Exeter surged to the finish line with a dominant 15-8 performance to secure the sweep of the day.

Exeter will return to the court on Wednesday inside Love Gym when they host Milton Academy in their home opener at 5:00p.
