Exeter softball responded in impressive fashion at the Big East Tournament, rebounding from an opening-round loss to Andover with an 8-3 victory over Noble & Greenough to keep its postseason run alive. After falling to Andover, 11-1, in the tournament opener, Big Red turned in a complete performance against Nobles behind a productive offense and strong work in the circle.
Batting from the leadoff spot,
Ella Shea set the tone with a perfect 2-for-2 day that included a double, three RBI, and two runs scored.
Lydia Carr added two hits and crossed the plate twice.
Paige Sweet and
Julia Cootey each contributed a hit and drove in a run as Exeter capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Regan Coco started in the circle and worked the first two innings before
Paris Tran took over and delivered three strong frames to close out the win. Tran allowed just one run over the final three innings to help secure the victory.
With the win, Exeter remains alive in tournament play and will return to the field tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. as Big Red looks to continue its push in the Big East Tournament.
