Exeter girls water polo capped an outstanding season with a second-place finish at the New England Championships, advancing to the title game after a decisive 21-7 semifinal victory over Greenwich Academy before falling to Choate Rosemary Hall, 7-2, in the championship match.
Big Red earned its spot in the finals with one of its most complete performances of the season against Greenwich Academy.
Mena Boardman set the tone from the opening sprint, winning all four swim-offs and scoring eight goals to lead the Exeter attack.
Juliette Morgan added four goals and a steal, while
Talia Sandhu contributed four goals and played a key role on the defensive end.
Shawna Jiang recorded two goals and two assists, and
Chloe Meyer-Blohm impacted the game across the pool with seven steals and one goal.
Aaliya Huang scored her first goal of the season, and
Margaux Morgan also added a goal.
In net,
Murphy Kelleher made eight saves to help secure the semifinal victory and send Big Red to the championship game.
