Water polo picks up pair of wins over WNH, Hopkins

The Exeter girls water polo team notched a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Williston Northampton 9–7 and edging out Hopkins 8–7 in a competitive doubleheader.

In the opening game against WNH, Ali Benson led the charge with four goals, while Sophie Phelps added three of her own to pace the offense. The team showed poise on both ends of the pool, with strong contributions from Darya Lincoln and Chloe Meyer-Blohm, who each netted a goal. Bella Bueno was solid in goal, turning away multiple key shots to preserve the lead.

Exeter carried that momentum into their second game, where they held off Hopkins in a back-and-forth battle. Benson had another standout performance with two goals and two assists, while Phelps once again added three goals and dominated in all sprints. Lincoln and Meyer-Blohm continued to make an impact and Juliet Stein added a goal of her own, while Bueno came up with clutch saves to seal the win.

It was a full-team effort across both games, with strong defense, heads-up playmaking, and standout performances in goal and in transition. Exeter is back in the pool when they host Loomis Chaffee and Greenwich Country Day on Saturday inside the Nekton Championship Pool.
