Exeter girls water polo closed out the regular season with an impressive 17-12 victory over Andover on Wednesday, earning a split of the season series between the two longtime rivals.
Big Red came out firing, racing to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter behind goals from four different players as
Mena Boardman,
Chloe Meyer-Blohm,
Darya Lincoln, and
Talia Sandhu each found the back of the cage to set the tone early.
Exeter continued to build its advantage in the second quarter. Boardman added her second goal of the match, while
Juliette Morgan scored twice as Big Red carried a commanding 7-2 lead into halftime.
The visitors remained in control throughout the second half. Meyer-Blohm erupted for four additional goals after the break, Morgan added two more, and both Boardman and Sandhu chipped in with second-half tallies to keep Andover at bay.
In goal,
Murphy Kelleher delivered another steady performance, making several key saves to preserve Exeter's lead.
With the regular season complete, Big Red will await the announcement of seeding for the New England Girls Water Polo Championships, which is scheduled for Saturday at Andover.
