Exeter baseball leaned on a strong pitching performance and timely offense to earn a 4–1 road victory over Dexter Southfield, improving to 2–1 on the young season.
Logan McIntyre set the tone on the mound, delivering an impressive start for Big Red. The right-hander struck out seven batters while allowing just four hits and one unearned run across 4.2 innings of work. McIntyre kept Dexter off balance throughout, attacking the zone and working efficiently to hand Exeter a lead heading into the later innings.
Devin Boles took over in relief and shut the door, turning in a composed outing to secure the win. Boles allowed just one hit over 2.1 innings while striking out three, consistently limiting hard contact and earning the save.
Offensively, Exeter capitalized on key opportunities.
Amari Lewis paced the lineup with a double as part of a 1-for-4 day, while
Thad McConnell contributed with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Nathanial Edin provided a spark at the top of the order, drawing two walks, driving in a run, and scoring once. McIntyre and
Ned Akashian also crossed the plate to round out the scoring for Big Red.
With a complete team effort on both sides of the ball, Exeter heads into its home opener with momentum. Big Red will host New Hampton on Friday at 4:45 p.m.
