Big Red shines at Nike Outdoor Nationals

Exeter Track and Field wrapped up its season on a national stage with a commanding performance at Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon. Competing against the best high school athletes in the country, Big Red athletes earned four All-American honors, set two school records, and made their mark in one of the sport's most prestigious meets.

Leading the charge was the Championship Mixed 4x400m Relay team of Collin Moore, Gianna Phipps, Jaylen Bennett, and Jannah Maguire, who combined for a blistering time of 3:30.16 to finish second in the nation.

In the Girls Championship 400m Hurdles, Maguire returned with another standout performance, winning her heat by more than a second and finishing third overall with a time of 59.34. Her result not only earned All-American honors but also ranked as the 13th fastest time in the country this year.

Jaylen Bennett delivered one of the most impressive individual weekends of the meet. He broke the school record in the Championship 400m, placing seventh with a time of 47.32 and earning All-American honors. He followed that up with a 6th-place finish in the Championship 200m, running 21.31 in the finals to cap his weekend with a second All-American performance.

Gianna Phipps ran a school-record 55.11 to place second in the Girls Emerging Elite 400m, and she also competed in the Emerging Elite 200m, clocking 25.13 to finish 31st overall.

In the Boys Emerging Elite Javelin, Carter Johnson captured first place with a throw of 55.61 meters (182 feet, 5 inches). His performance came after a long weather delay and a late-night conclusion to the event.

Exeter's talented underclassmen also made their presence known. In the Boys Freshman Mile, Bo Howland-Vlahakis placed 9th in a time of 4:23.30, with Marcus Kiehl close behind in 16th at 4:26.39, both in a massive field of more than 70 runners.
Alex Sahinoglu competed in the Boys Emerging Elite 110m Hurdles, running 15.19 for 36th overall in a deep and competitive field.

Across four days at historic Hayward Field, Exeter athletes demonstrated poise, speed, and strength, turning in national-level performances and once again proving Big Red's place among the best in the country.
