Tyler Montecalvo singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Exeter baseball to a 4-3 victory over Winchendon on Wednesday afternoon. With the game knotted at 3-3, the Big Red bats went to work in the final frame.
Joshua Schildcrout ignited the rally with a double down the left field line before
Caspar Bailey connected for a single. Montecalvo provided the finishing touches with a line drive single to right field, plating Schildcrout, and giving Big Red the win. Schildcrout and Montecalvo finished with two hits apiece while Bailey finished 3-for-4 on the day with a run scored.
Sean Noone started the game on the bump for the hosts, striking out four over four innings of work before
Josh Dunn came in for three scoreless innings of relief.
Exeter will be back on the Amos Alonzo Stagg '85 Diamond on Friday afternoon when they host Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols at 5:15pm.
