Saahi Jetti struck out 16 and scattered just five hits to power Big Red to a 2-1 victory in the opening game of a doubleheader with the Blue on Saturday. Andover scored an 8-2 victory in game two as the sides split the doubleheader on the day.
Jetti kept the Andover bats off-balance all day, striking out at least one batter in each of his nine innings of work while not allowing a walk. The righthander only got stronger as the game went on, amassing nine strikeouts in his final four innings.
Big Red loaded the bases in the top of the tenth inning as
Caspar Bailey singled to center before
Sam Roberts was hit by a pitch and
James Donnelly reached on an error.
Dana Mussulman came through in the clutch with a run scoring single to left field to give Exeter the 2-1 edge.
Ryan O'Keefe set the Andover lineup down in order, including striking out two, in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win. Mussulman, Bailey, and
Thad McConnell each had two hits for Big Red.
Mussulman finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the game two loss.
Big Red will return to Amos Alonzo Stagg '85 Diamond on Wednesday when they welcome Winchendon at 4:00pm.
