Exeter wrestling began its 2025–26 season with a home quad meet on Saturday. The Big Red defeated Hyde (46–29) and Lexington Christian (60–24) before falling to Roxbury Latin (52–23). Co-captain
Zain Reza led the charge with a perfect three pins, while co-captain
Konrad Kutt defeated two quality opponents and took a forfeit.
William Chen, who was bumped up a weight class to fill a hole in the lineup, did nicely to secure two pins. And in the highlight match of the day,
Luca Somma turned the tide for a come-from-behind pin against Roxbury Latin.
The Big Red girls wrestling contingent (thirteen strong this year—a school-record turnout) traveled to the Choate Girls' Wrestling Invitational Tournament. Exeter came away with three placewinners:
Ting-Ting Hsieh (3rd at 107),
Gina Hasegawa (3rd at 120),
Avni Murarka (3rd at 235),
Carmella Schoner (4th at 126), and
Catherine Chen (4th at 132) in what was an excellent start to the season.
Big Red will return to the mat on Saturday, December 13th when they travel to Deerfield for a quad meet with the Big Green, Thayer Academy, and Beaver Country Day School.
