Exeter cross country once again proved its place among the elite at the Division I New England Championships, with the boys capturing their sixth consecutive title and the girls finishing second overall—marking their 11th straight season placing in the top three, a run that includes five championships of their own.
On the boys side,
Bo Howland-Vlahakis led the charge with a stellar second-place finish in 15:29, setting the tone for another dominant team performance.
Owen Welch crossed the line in ninth (16:53), followed closely by
William Miller in tenth (17:03).
Truman Yee and
Ethan Benenson rounded out Exeter's top five with 20th (17:22) and 23rd (17:30) place finishes, respectively. The Big Red totaled 64 points, finishing 19 points ahead of runner-up St. Paul's.
The girls team was equally impressive, finishing just 10 points behind champion Andover with a total of 60 points.
Harper Peters led the way with a fifth-place finish (19:12), while
Ava Bullock was right behind in sixth (19:19).
Norah Pratt (12th, 20:36),
Annika Nystedt (16th, 20:51), and
Alice Rourke (21st, 21:14) rounded out the scoring five in a balanced and determined team effort.
Big Red's success extended to the JV races, where both the boys and girls teams claimed first-place finishes in their divisions. For the boys,
Carsten Flowers finished second overall (18:17), followed by
Owen Cosgrove (4th, 18:34),
James Travis (8th, 18:54), and
Sarek Ranadive and
Sollie Beer in 14th (19:06) and 15th (19:06). On the girls' side,
Mari Ciaschini led the way with a second-place finish (21:15), followed by
Jocelyn Wen (5th, 21:33),
Sophia Butler (6th, 21:57),
Maryn Bowman (7th, 22:01), and
Emerson Seymour (8th, 22:08) as Exeter swept the top of the leaderboard.
