Late goal powers girls hockey over Milton

Exeter girls hockey improved to 2-0 on the young season in a thriller on Rink A Wednesday night. With just 22 ticks of the clock left in third period of a 4-4 game, Lauren Xu found the back of the net to put Big Red up for good. The home team jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead with two goals from Paisley Meyer and another from Erin Sears. A scrappy Milton team responded with three goals of their own in the second. Emma Shu gave Big Red some breathing room in the second, scoring on a nifty feed from Dominique Reiher. Milton refused to go away, knotting up the game early in the third until Xu's late go-ahead goal. Lower netminder Lily Sabol picked up her first win between the pipes at Exeter.

Big Red returns to the ice Friday against Brewster for the first of three games this weekend as part of the Exeter Invitational tournament.
