Exeter golfers turned in strong performances across two major events this past week, with the girls placing third at the 40th Annual Pippy O'Connor Girls Golf Championship on Monday and the boys finishing 10th at the Independent International Invitational held Saturday and Sunday at Crumpin-Fox Club.
At Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Berlin, Connecticut, Exeter's girls competed in one of the region's premier tournaments and placed third overall in a field of 34 schools and more than 140 players.
Alicia Medina led Big Red with a five-over-par 76, good for eighth place individually.
Chelsea Kim followed closely with a 78 to finish 11th overall.
Plan Nitiwarangkul added an 80, while
Sophia Xue carded an 85.
Emily Kim and
Caroline Chadwick each finished with rounds of 86.
Earlier in the weekend, Exeter's boys competed against a competitive field at the Independent International Invitational and placed 10th overall after two rounds at Crumpin Fox Golf Club.
Brendan McCarthy paced the boys with a 36-hole total of 160, following rounds of 79 and 81 to finish 23rd overall.
Ray Li was close behind in 27th place after rounds of 81 and 80 for a 161 total.
Marvin Shim finished 49th with rounds of 83 and 91 (174), while Mingham Zou posted rounds of 87 and 89 for a 176 total.
Joe Sasso rounded out the Exeter lineup with rounds of 89 and 92 (181).
