Exeter boys tennis delivered a strong performance on Wednesday afternoon, as Big Red swept St. Paul's in convincing fashion. The varsity A team earned a 7-0 victory, while the varsity B squad followed with a strong 6-1 win to cap an impressive day on the courts.
At the top of the BVA lineup,
Art Chinsupakul set the tone with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 1, while Josh Mullen and
Luke Sanders each cruised to straight-set victories, 6-1, 6-0, respectively.
Nathan Liu (6-3, 5-7, 10-6) and
V Murdaya (6-0, 3-6, 10-7) each battled through three-set contests to earn victories.
Hugo Shinn added a composed straight-set win at No. 5, 7-5, 6-2.
The doubles lineup continued the momentum, completing the sweep. Chinsupakul and
Samuel Medina edged a competitive 8-6 win at No. 1, while the pairs of Mullen/Liu and Shinn/Sanders controlled their matches to close out the 7-0 result.
The varsity B team followed with a strong 6-1 performance.
Neal Veeranna earned a hard-fought straight-set win at No. 2, while
Gary Guo and
Leon Xie delivered convincing victories in their respective matches.
Albert Zhu showcased grit in a three-set comeback, and
Miles Terner battled to a tight straight-set win, including a second-set tiebreak.
In doubles play, the B squad continued to impress. Veeranna and Murdaya teamed up for a 9-7 win in a tightly contested No. 1 match, while Zhu/Guo and Xie/Terner secured decisive victories to round out the team effort.
Exeter will look to carry this momentum forward as varsity A hosts Greenwich Country Day School at 5:00 p.m., while both varsity A and B squads hit the road on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. matchup at Choate.
