Exeter boys lacrosse delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon, rolling to an 18-8 victory over Pomfret Academy behind a fast start and balanced offensive attack.
Big Red seized control from the opening whistle, erupting for a 10-0 run that set the tone early.
Bryce Bertanzetti jumpstarted the scoring in the first quarter and added another during the decisive stretch, while
Church Salathe poured in three first-half goals to pace the offense.
Escher Briere and
Tyler Callander each struck twice during the opening surge, and
Liam Canty,
Tommy Lombardi, and
Finlay Fitch all found the back of the net as Exeter built a commanding 13-1 lead by halftime.
The offensive depth continued to shine after the break, with Will Gardner netting a pair of second-half goals to help maintain the advantage. Will Lefebvre and Cam Fiascanaro shared in Player of the Game honors for their decisive work at the faceoff.
Defensively, Exeter was just as impressive, anchored by a strong performance in goal from
John Davidson, who turned aside multiple Pomfret chances to preserve the early lead and keep momentum firmly on Exeter's side.
Big Red will look to carry their winning momentum into Saturday's matchup at Dexter Southfield, scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
