Late goal lifts girls soccer to third straight victory

Exeter girls varsity soccer picked up their third straight win in thrilling fashion over Governor's Academy on Wednesday afternoon. With just seconds remaining on the clock, Audrey Kim played a perfect pass to the feet of Scarlett Ring. Ring would beat her defender before launching a spectacular strike from 20-yards out into the top-corner of the goal, sealing Big Red's 4-3 victory in stunning fashion.

Governor's got the scoring started early before Elena Calvo scored her first of two goals on the day off a feed from Ella Shea to even the match at 1-1. Big Red would vault in front when Morgan Signore one-touched a perfect cross from Mandy Guo past the Governor's keeper. The hosts would extend their lead to 3-1 when Calvo notched her second tally of the day, this time on an assist from Orleans Germond.

Governor's would claw back and even the game at 3-3 in the second half before Ring's heroics gave Big Red the win. Lily Pate was solid in goal for Big Red and received a strong defensive effort anchored by Sofia De Filippo and Riley Jernigan.

Big Red will look to make it four straight when they travel to Milton Academy on Saturday for a 3:00pm start.
