Exeter girls basketball pulled away late to earn a 49–40 comeback victory on the road at Governor's Academy on Wednesday afternoon.
Daniella Kalil paced the Big Red offense with a game-high 20 points, connecting on four three-pointers to keep Exeter within striking distance throughout the afternoon.
Sydney Pettis finished with 11 points, six of which came during a decisive fourth quarter, while
Haylie Regan added six.
Ally Rubin,
Fiyin Filani, and
Caroline Chadwick each contributed four points as Exeter leaned on balanced scoring down the stretch.
The contest was tightly contested through three quarters, with Big Red trailing 33–32 entering the final frame. Exeter flipped the game in the closing eight minutes, clamping down defensively and outscoring Governor's 17–7. Pettis led the charge offensively in the fourth, while the defensive effort limited quality looks and sealed the victory.
Big Red will look to build on the momentum when they return home on Wednesday to open a four-game homestand, hosting New Hampton School at 3:00 p.m.
