FIVE STRAIGHT! Exeter cycling wins fifth consecutive NERC title

Exeter cycling continued their dominance and captured their fifth straight New England Road Cycling League championship this afternoon at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The unprecedented run of five championships spans even longer as this marks the 14th overall title in program history. Big Red totaled 2,440 points on the year to take home the team title, 791 more points than Proctor Academy, who placed second overall in the team standings.

"This result was made possible by the contributions of everyone on this team," said head coach Don Mills. "This is a really special group – they like each other, are fun, supportive, competitive, and genuinely invested in each other's success."

Luvy Danielson, who set a course record in the first race of the season, captured the Girls A overall title, amassing a league-best 477 points throughout the five-race series. Danielson finished first (once), second (three times), and third (once) in each of the races on the season. Danielson paced Big Red in the finale, completing the eight-lap course in 41:05.6. Lydia Reimert and Elle Perry followed at 41:12.1 and 41:16.0, respectively in the Girls A section. Reimert finished third overall in the Girls A series with 393 total points while Perry earned a fourth-place overall finish, totaling 345 points.

Jesse Ball, who finished second overall with a total of 330 points in the Boys A series on the year, led the Big Red pack with a time of 33:52.5 while Sebastian Sobeih followed closely as 33:55.0. Ball captured 330 points on the year to capture second place.

Artur Novaes Ferreira captured the Boys B division title and closed the year with a first-place result in an exciting finish. Novaes Ferreira crossed the line at 33:52.6, two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher while Nicholas Baker placed third on the day with a time of 33:55.4.
