Athletics announces appointment of Stephan Lewis as Associate Athletic Director

The Exeter Athletics Department has announced the addition of Stephan Lewis as the Associate Athletic Director for Scheduling and Internal Programming. Lewis is no stranger to the Big Red campus as he has served as an assistant coach in both football and track and field since 2021.

"We are so fortunate to add Stephan to help lead our department," said Director of Physical Education and Athletics, Jason Baseden. "We have seen the impact he has had as a coach in our program and are thrilled to incorporate his expertise into all of our teams. His energy, skillset, and passion for working with and developing young people will bring our program to new heights."

Prior to arriving on campus, Lewis served as a physical education instructor and athletic director at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham, New Hampshire since 2009. In his role, Lewis will arrange all scheduling and logistics for Big Red teams in addition to leading internal programming for the department.

Lewis joined the Big Red coaching ranks in 2021 with the football and track and field programs. An accomplished athlete, Lewis played football at the University of New Hampshire where he was a three-time all-conference player, All-American, and two-time Walter Payton Award finalist, awarded annually to the top player in all of Division 1 FCS football. In his 2002 All-American season, Lewis led the nation in all-purpose yards. After his collegiate career, he went on to play professionally in the NFL, CFL, and AFL. In 2015, Lewis coached for his hometown Philadelphia Eagles. An inductee into both the Coatesville and University of New Hampshire halls of fame, Coach Lewis has been active in coaching football, basketball, baseball, and track in the seacoast region of New Hampshire since his retirement from football.
