Stephan Lewis, one of the greatest players in the history of the University of New Hampshire football program, joined the Exeter football staff in 2021. He has been a vital piece in the team’s offensive production since he joined the coaching staff. An all-state football and basketball player from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Coach Lewis went on to earn several full football scholarships before selecting the University of New Hampshire. At UNH, he was a three-time all-conference player, All-American, and two-time Walter Payton Award finalist, awarded annually to the top player in all of Division 1 FCS football. In his 2002 All-American season, Lewis led the nation in all-purpose yards. After his collegiate career, he went on to play professionally in the NFL, CFL, and AFL. In 2015, Lewis coached for his hometown Philadelphia Eagles. An inductee into both the Coatesville and University of New Hampshire halls of fame, Coach Lewis has been active in coaching football, basketball, baseball, and track in the seacoast region of New Hampshire since his retirement from football. The athletic director for Exeter’s middle school, he resides just minutes from campus with his wife Brianne, and is the proud father of Gavyn, Amari ‘28, and Natalia.
