Kerry McBrearty joined the Exeter community in the summer of 2021. In her role, she serves as an instructor in the Physical Education Department, is the head coach of the girls basketball program, serves as an assistant coach with girls lacrosse, and is the Girls Athletics Administrator for the Athletics Department.
An accomplished teacher and coach across multiple disciplines, McBrearty has enjoyed head coaching stops in women’s lacrosse at Bentley University, Roger Williams University, and Queens College. She also served as an assistant soccer coach at Bentley and taught physical education and coached basketball at The Dalton School and the Rodeoph Sholom School in New York City. McBrearty also served as the Director of the STARS Club Lacrosse program in Alexandria, Virginia.
McBrearty earned both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in physical education from Springfield College, where she was a captain of the girls lacrosse program. McBrearty took the helm of the Bentley University women's lacrosse program in 2013. In her first four seasons running the program, she guided the Falcons to playoff berths each time in the highly competitive Northeast-10 Conference each season.
Under McBrearty’s tutelage, the Falcons had a record setting 2016 season. The team reeled off a program record 11-game winning streak, tied a school record with 13 wins, and advanced to the NE10 semifinals for the first time since 2012. Bentley finished the season ranked 14th in the IWLCA's Division II Top 20 Poll.
