Harry Rafferty joined the Exeter baseball staff in 2025-26. In addition to his coaching duties on the diamond, he also serves as an instructor in the Physical Education Department, a coach for the girls volleyball program, and is the head coach of the Big Red boys basketball program.

Rafferty '13, a former standout player at Exeter, was named head coach of the boys varsity basketball program in March of 2025.

Rafferty returned to campus and served as an assistant under former head coach Jay Tilton for the 2024-25 season. As a student, Rafferty played guard and earned co-MVP honors in the 2012-13 season after leading Big Red to a 25-1 record and the program's first NEPSAC Class A title.

Prior to returning to Exeter, Rafferty spent five seasons (2019-2024) with the University of Michigan Women’s Basketball program, led by two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year Kim Barnes Arico. Starting as the graduate manager before being promoted to assistant coach in 2021 and then promoted again to recruiting coordinator in 2023, he helped with all aspects of the program. In Rafferty’s five years on staff, the Wolverines reached the program’s first Elite Eight, first two Sweet Sixteens, and made the NCAA tournament every season it was held.

Rafferty joined the Michigan staff after playing with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G-League. He averaged 19 minutes per game as a reserve during his brief stint with the Skyforce in the 2018-2019 season.

Rafferty graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, in 2017 with a degree in American studies and a concentration in African-American History. Rafferty was a four-year starting guard for Wesleyan, ending his career with 1,129 career points and graduating as the career leader in three-point field goals made (194). He helped lead the team to the 2014-15 NESCAC championship, the first in school history, and two appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. A three-time member of the NESCAC All-Academic Team, he was voted by his peers as the Wesleyan Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year in both 2015 and 2016.

Rafferty served as a player development intern and then coach for Integrity Hoops in both Exeter, New Hampshire, and Los Angeles, California from 2010-17. He assisted Noah LaRoche (founder/owner of Integrity Hoops; current assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies) in the development of numerous NBA and WNBA players.

Rafferty graduated from Berwick Academy (ME) in 2012 before attending Phillips Exeter for a postgraduate year in 2013. Rafferty played AAU basketball for Michael Crotty Jr. and the Middlesex Magic out of Boston, Massachusetts. In the summer of 2024, Rafferty alongside Chris Petzy re-established the historic Portsmouth Serious Summer League for its 26th season.
