Alexa Caldwell

Alexa Caldwell has been a member of the Phillips Exeter community since 2015. She grew up playing soccer and began playing lacrosse in the seventh grade. In ninth grade, Caldwell was a freshman starter on a State Championship team, and from that experience lacrosse quickly became a significant focus for her.

Caldwell enjoyed a successful playing career at Brown University and was captain of the team during her senior year. Committed to still being involved in the sport, Caldwell began coaching high school lacrosse as soon as she graduated from college. She started a varsity program in Asheville, North Carolina before arriving at Exeter. Upon arriving on campus, Caldwell spent five years coaching the girls varsity soccer program and served as the JV girls lacrosse coach. Caldwell then move into an assistant role with the girls varsity program, working with legendary Big Red coach, Christina Breen.  Caldwell was tabbed as the new head coach of the program in 2022-23.  

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team has a long history of success and is one of the strongest programs in the region. Big Red focuses on preparing players for collegiate play, producing numerous student-athletes who go on to NCAA Division I and III schools, including programs in the Ivy League, Pac-12, Big East, Big Ten, Atlantic-10, NESCAC, and other premier conferences around the country. 

In addition to coaching, Caldwell is an instructor in the History Department and lives in Main Street Dormitory with family.
