Jen Boyden was named head coach of Exeter softball in the 2023-24 academic year. Boyden arrived in Exeter as a highly regarded coach with an abundance of experience at the high school, club, and collegiate level.
Boyden comes to Exeter from Emerson College where she has served as the assistant coach of the Lions program in addition to being the Director of Sports Performance at the college. Boyden was also one of the best players in Emerson College softball history as she earned three ESPN Academic All-American honors and three NFCA AII-America Scholar Athlete accolades, while also receiving the GNAC Woman of the Year Award and an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.
Prior to coaching at Emerson, Boyden spent three years (two as head coach) at Bow High School where she helped guide the program to the New Hampshire playoffs in 2021 and 2022 while producing the program's first Player of the Year in 2023. Boyden served as the assistant softball coach at Lesley University from 2008 to 2011, preparing the team for its first ECAC and NCAA tournament bids. She is also a pillar in the club softball community and is currently the head coach at the Polar Crush Premier program.
Jen holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, an MS in Mental Health Counseling/Crime and Justice Studies from Suffolk University, and an MS in Kinesiology and Sports Conditioning from A. T. Still University.
She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and has completed the OnBaseU Level 1 Hitting Certification (the only certified instructor in NH and one of a handful in New England) in addition to Driveline Baseball's Foundations of Hitting Certification, and the Rapsodo Softball Pitching Certification. Jen is also an ACE Level 4 Coach through USA Softball and is a member of both the NFCA and the ABCA.
